Anne Lancaster's Needle Book

Inspired by a pocket sampler stitched in an orphan asylum in the early 1800s, I’ve taken some of the motifs from one panel of the original sampler and stitched them in nice, muted colors of pewter, brown, charcoal, cream, and olive. The star on the original sampler was filled with satin stitches, but I’ve chosen to stitch the year 1826 in the center and then added Anne’s name in clockwise fashion starting with her first name in the sections surrounding the center. (Note: Anne Lancaster was not the name of the young girl who stitched the original pocket sampler, nor is this an exact reproduction of the original.) Inside is a pocket for stowing your scissors and thread. Two wool patches on the inside cover collect pins, needles, and buttons. A bit of silk ribbon ties the whole closed. The sampler is stitched over 2 threads on 32 count linen. Stitch count is 97h x 107w. All stitches are counted cross stitch.
The needle book measures 6.25”h x 7.25”w closed.
Pattern includes color photo, professional cross stitch chart with floss colors, and directions for making the needle book.
