FWP Punch Needle Pattern THE PUMPKIN KING #1407
Here is the Pumpkin King who reigns at the time of cool breezes and falling leaves - with his three kitty companions and his crow!
This piece is an original Fully Wooly Primitive Punch Needle design and is done with hand dyed wool threads. Pumpkin King itself measures 4-1/2" x 7-1/4" and was punched using 100% wool threads.
The pumpkins were done using 2 different wools - spiced pumpkin & autumn leaves - while the pumpkin king was punched with old blue paint and faded red. I used a wood moss for the leaves and tantramar marsh brown for the vines. The cats were done using a colour called shadow play with the background punched in 3 different colours, sheep's wool, slate and cinder.
I have gone back to my roots and decided to do a quilt border using my own hand dyed wools and an appliqué technique. Folk art squares surround the border and have been primitive stitched using again my own hand dyed wool threads. I have secured the edges with a running stitch and quilted the seams. The whole piece measures 14" x 17" and is backed again with a piece of black wool.

This is a great pattern to start off the fall season. Really looks nice made up for a table top or add a sleeve in the back to hang the small wall hanging. Can even be made as a pillow top. Lovely for your primitive decor with an added bit of folk whimsy!Don't forget all our patterns can be made into hooked rugs - wouldn't this one look spectacular.
