Good morning everyone!
We hope all of you had a wonderful week. To start things off today, we're paying tribute to our friend, the scarecrow. The scarecrow has been called by numerous names down through the centuries. My favorites of these would have to be Tattie Bogle (man of the rooks), Mawkin, Bogeyman and Rook-scarer. Sadly with modern times come changes. Scarecrows are being replaced with shimmering ribbons and noise makers that sound like gunshots. Fortunately, as long as there are doll makers, folk artists and scarecrow festivals the scarecrow will hopefully continue to remain with us throughout several more centuries.
Many doll faces do require painting and I found this great free tutorial - A Simplified Approach Painting Tutorial - for you to download from Pattern Mart that may be helpful if you feel intimidated by this. While you're there, why not view the rest of the Free Patterns offered on the website.
