Craft Business - Top Two Pricing Issues

There has never been a better time to start a craft business. Thousands of people are taking their love for creating beautiful crafts and turning it into a thriving business. The big question when starting a craft business is figuring out how much you can earn selling your crafts.

Here then, are the top two craft pricing issues:

How do I price my crafts for selling?

Learning how to price your crafts to sell is extremely important as you want to earn maximum profits from all your hard work. Typical retail stores price their products at 250%. This means retailers multiply wholesale cost times 2.5 to get their retail price.

With crafts, it’s slightly different in that you have to take into consideration the cost of your materials along with charging for your labor costs so that you’re not producing your crafts for next to nothing.

You may have to select a fair final retail price for each craft item and then work backwards, deducting your materials costs to calculate whether each item and the time involved is worthwhile to create.

Can I make a profit selling my crafts wholesale to stores?

This falls into a similar pricing category as shown above in figuring out how much profit potential is available for the craft and what the store would reasonably expect to sell it for. You may earn a smaller profit selling craft items wholesale but make money more quickly overall in that the store would order in volume. You need to decide which works better for you.

If selling your craft wholesale is a consideration you must also factor in the possibility of becoming so swamped with orders that you will have to hire staff. This would obviously then cut into your profits considerably.

Average people like you are earning thousands of dollars selling their crafts each year. If your interest lies in the craft field you owe it to yourself to research and develop a craft business.
